The wait is finally over: despite a mind-bogglingly busy schedule making other peoples’ records (Tegan & Sara, The Decemberists, et al), delays involving customs border agents, and time spent on production of his main band Death Cab for Cutie’s new album (due out this spring on Atlantic), Chris Walla has finished his debut solo album, field manual.

The album will be available in stores on January 29th. As a special thank-you to those who pre-order or purchase the album by February 4th, Walla and Barsuk are giving away three non-album bonus MP3s. For information about how to get the bonus tracks, just go the Barsuk online shop or head to your local participating indie retailer (many stores will even take a pre-order from you —– be sure to ask if they’re offering the MP3 download to make sure before you buy) — you’ll be given a special code and a link where you can download the MP3s.
